    Introduction to English Language (A1 Level)

    The course is designed for beginners or absolute beginners and give them an opportunity to take part in Erasmus+ mobility. After the course the learners will be able to interact in a simple way, ask and answer simple questions about themselves, where they live, people they know, and things they have, initiate and respond to simple statements in areas of immediate need or on very familiar topics.

    Course Overview

    Are you a beginner learner of English? Are you looking to acquiring basic language skills, whether for personal or professional reasons? Then this is the course for you! This course is designed for school teachers/educators and administrative workers that would like to acquire their Basic English language skills. We will cover topics such as everyday office tasks and greeting visitors, as well as presenting ourselves and having day to day conversations.The participants will engage in activities that combine all four language skills.

    Course Curriculum

    Day 1. Monday - Course introduction and new vocabulary

  1. Welcome and short introduction of the course and the activities
  2. Getting to know each other & icebreakers
  3. New vocabulary: alphabet, numbers, personal pronounce.
  4. Day 2. Tuesday - Grammar and new vocabulary

  5. New vocabulary: hobbies, jobs, family, friends.
  6. Class Activity: practise pronunciation.
  7. Outdoor activity: Let’s visit the nearby area.
  8. Day 3. Wednesday – Conversational English

  9. Class Activity: How to ask a question and how to answer.
  10. New vocabulary: conversation over the phone, email.
  11. Presentation of participants’ schools, languages and cultures (optional, depending on the participants’ English knowledge.)
  12. Day 4. Thursday - Activities in the city

  13. Class Activity: What do you like about Cyprus?
  14. New vocabulary: time, place descriptions, food.
  15. Outdoor activity: Discover the local food culture. Let us taste the Traditional Cyprus coffee.
  16. Day 5. Friday - Certificate of attendance and cultural activities

  17. Feedback and certificate of attendance.
  18. Cultural visit in the local area.
  19. Course Outcomes

    By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  20. Improve English vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar and conversational skills
  21. Feel more confident in using the English language at work and personal life
  22. Immerse in local culture and history
  23. Meet colleagues from other European countries.

    Certificate:

    Participants who attend at least 80% of the course will receive a Certificate of Attendance either on Thursday or Friday.

    Schedule:

    Classes take place in the morning or afternoon at the providers' discretion. The schedule outlines may differ significantly depending on participants’ requests and on the trainer, who has discretion over any changes.

    Equipment:

    Depending on the course, you may be required to bring your own laptop.
