    The course provides teachers with valuable insights into the significance of empathy, understanding, and openness toward diverse cultures. Participants will reflect on these attitudes and practice effective strategies to enhance their Intercultural Competency. The training addresses the challenges of multicultural education by exploring various ethnicities, cultures, religions, and genders within socio-cultural identities. Participants will critically analyze beliefs about diversity while integrating knowledge from fields such as feminism, human sexuality, and sociology. The course also covers key elements of European law related to equality, discrimination, migration, gender mainstreaming, and the LGBTQ+ movement.

    Day 1. Introduction to Multicultural Education

  5. Day 2. Exploring Cultural Contexts

  6. Identifying personal biases;
  7. Understanding the cultural backgrounds of students;
  8. Discussing the challenges and benefits of teaching in a multicultural environment;
  9. Key terminology related to diversity;
  10. Comparing migrants and refugees;
  11. Strategies for including migrant and refugee students in the EU educational system.
  12. Day 3. Gender Studies and Social Roles

  13. Introduction to Gender Studies across various disciplines;
  14. Examining historical and current social roles of women and men;
  15. Addressing the dynamics of girls and boys from diverse backgrounds in the classroom;
  16. Clarifying terms: sex, sexuality, gender, and gender identity;
  17. Exploring the identification of sexuality and the coming-out process.
  18. Day 4. Promoting Inclusion and Community

  19. Understanding intolerance and bullying;
  20. Strategies for building a supportive classroom community;
  21. Connecting students from diverse backgrounds to the local community;
  22. The role of European law in promoting equality;
  23. Addressing discrimination in European schools;
  24. Discussing violence and its implications in European contexts.
  25. Day 5. Course Conclusion

    Certificate:

    Participants who attend at least 80% of the course will receive a Certificate of Attendance either on Thursday or Friday.

    Schedule:

    Classes take place in the morning or afternoon at the providers' discretion. The schedule outlines may differ significantly depending on participants’ requests and on the trainer, who has discretion over any changes.
