Complete handbook with official EU rates for travel grants, daily allowances, organisational support, and inclusion funding. Everything you need to maximize your Erasmus+ KA1 mobility funding.
Erasmus+ Key Action 1 (KA1) provides complete funding coverage for teacher professional development. Teachers pay nothing out of pocket — the EU grant covers all eligible costs through the employing institution.
Travel funding is calculated using official distance bands from your location to the training venue. The EU distinguishes between green travel (low-emissions transport like trains) and standard travel.
| Distance | 🌱 Green Travel | ✈️ Standard Travel | Extra Travel Days |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 – 99 km | €56 | €28 | — |
| 100 – 499 km | €285 | €211 | Max 2 days |
| 500 – 1,999 km | €417 | €309 | Max 2 days |
| 2,000 – 2,999 km | €535 | €395 | Max 2 days |
| 3,000 – 3,999 km | €785 | €580 | Max 2 days |
| 4,000 – 7,999 km | €1188 | €1188 | Max 6 days |
| 8,000+ km | €1735 | €1735 | Max 6 days |
Choose low-emissions transport (trains, buses, carpooling) and receive higher travel grants plus up to 6 additional travel days with individual support. Below 500 km, participants should travel by low-emissions means as a general rule. Over 500 km, participants are strongly encouraged to use sustainable transport combinations.
Daily individual support covers accommodation, meals, and local transport during training. Rates depend on the receiving country and are set within EU-defined ranges by National Agencies.
Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden

Erasmus+ provides extra support for participants with fewer opportunities or those requiring additional assistance due to personal, physical, mental, or health-related conditions.
| Support Type | Amount | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Organisation Inclusion Support | €125/participant | For organizing mobility for participants with fewer opportunities |
| Participant Inclusion Support | 100% of costs | Real costs for physical, mental, or health-related conditions (must be justified) |
| Accompanying Persons | Staff rates apply | Travel + individual support for required accompanying persons |

| Traineeship Top-Up | €150/month | Additional grant for students on traineeships |
Participants with fewer opportunities cannot be zero-grant participants. The inclusion support aims to ensure equal access and opportunities for participants from all backgrounds. Higher education institutions describe on their website how students and staff with fewer opportunities can request and justify additional grant support.
Students receive monthly grants based on the cost of living difference between sending and receiving countries. National Agencies set exact amounts within EU-defined ranges.
Same cost group (1→1, 2→2, 3→3)
To higher cost group (2→1, 3→1, 3→2)
To lower cost group (1→2, 1→3, 2→3)
Blended Intensive Programmes combine online learning with short-term physical mobility, offering flexible training options for educators.

When distance band doesn't cover 70%+ of actual costs:
of eligible travel costs (replaces standard travel support)
Students and staff with a zero-grant from EU Erasmus+ funds are mobile participants that do not receive an Erasmus+ mobility grant, but they otherwise fulfil all mobility criteria and benefit from all advantages of being Erasmus+ participants.
⚠️ Important:
Participants with fewer opportunities cannot be zero-grant participants.
Partial zero-grant mobility is possible where only part of the duration is funded.
